Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins begin the week in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 23-20-10-3 record (59 points). The Black and Gold is two points behind the Worcester IceCats, and three points behind the Manchester Monarchs and Portland Pirates. The Bruins will play three road games this week, beginning on Thursday, February 26 at 7:05 p.m., when they take on the Lowell Lock Monsters. They visit the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. and the Manchester Monarchs on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. All three games will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550.
Bruin center Andre Savage has continued his move up the franchise career scoring list. He leads the team with 14-22-36 totals in 52 games, and has 13-22-35 totals in 44 games since being acquired on loan from the Philadelphia Phantoms on October 29. The 28-year-old native of Ottawa, Ontario ranks third in franchise history, with 68-96-164 totals in 172 games. Savage is eight points shy of tying former Bruin Tim Sweeney for second place. Former Bruin and current Minnesota Wild forward Sergei Zholtok is the all-time leader, with 186 points.
The Bruins return home for two games the first weekend in March. They host the Hershey Bears on Friday, March 5 at 7:05 p.m. Following a game in Springfield the next night, the club is back on home ice to host the Portland Pirates on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
Bruin right wing Carl Corazzini will be on COX 3's "Sports Page Live" tonight at 7:00 p.m. Corazzini was recalled by the Boston Bruins on January 14 and was reassigned to Providence last Wednesday. He made his NHL debut in Buffalo on January 15, and scored his first two NHL goals on January 20 against the New York Rangers. Corazzini, a 24-year-old native of Framingham, Massachusetts, had two goals in 12 games with Boston. He is tied for fifth on the P-Bruins with 12-7-19 totals in 39 games, and leads the team with a +11 rating. He is also tied for the AHL lead with four shorthanded goals.
