
Sound Tigers Re-Sign D Leach To PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have re-signed Defenseman Jay Leach to a professional tryout contract. This will be the second stint with the Sound Tigers this season for Leach who appeared in a pair of games after signing a PTO on February 14th.
Leach 24, re-joins the Sound Tigers from the ECHL's Trenton Titans with whom he has two goals, 11 assists, 13 points and 40 penalty minutes in 27 games this season. The 6'4'' 220-pounder from Cranston, Rhode Island has also notched one assist and four penalty minutes in three games with the ECHL's Long Beach Ice Dogs and four penalty minutes in three games with the AHL's Providence Bruins this season. Leach spent most of last season with the ECHL's Augusta Lynx but did appear in nine games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons. He played the entire 2001-02 season with the ECHL's Mississippi Sea Wolves and spent the previous four years, 1997-2001, with Providence College of Hockey East.
The Sound Tigers will visit the Hartford Wolf Pack this Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. and the Albany River Rats this Friday at 7 p.m. They will return home to host Providence at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. All three of this week's games will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com. Friday's game will also be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM.
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at the Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
