Westrum recalled by Coyotes

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that center Erik Westrum has been recalled by the Phoenix Coyotes, their National Hockey League affiliate.

It is the first career regular season NHL call-up for Westrum, who is in his third season of professional hockey.

Westrum, 24, leads Springfield in goals (14) and points (30) in 52 games played this season. The Minneapolis native has had three multi-goal games this season. Westrum posted a goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over the Albany River Rats on February 15th.

Westrum has registered 104 points (37g, 67a) in 195 games over three seasons with the Falcons. The 6'0", 200-pound forward was the Coyotes' ninth selection (7th round, 187th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

The Falcons will look to extend their five-game winning streak when the club hosts the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Springfield Civic Center on Friday. Game time is 7:35 p.m. For ticket information, please contact the Falcons team office (413) 739-3344.
