
P-Bruins Fall to Sound Tigers 3-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Eric Nickulas and Pascal Pelletier. The P-Bruins are now 34-26-1-3 on the season, 72 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after Nickulas scored his eighth goal of the season at the 18:50 mark. Ben Guite skated down the left wing and put a shot on net that Bridgeport goaltender Wade Dubielewicz stopped. The rebound came outside the right post and Nickulas was there to put the rebound just under the crossbar. Michael Schutte had the second assist.
In the second period the P-Bruins extended their lead to 2-0. At the 2:56 mark, while on the power play, Nickulas sent the puck in front of the net. It went off a players skate and to Pelletier who was parked along the right post. He put it past Dubielewicz for his 15th goal of the season. Nathan Robinson had the second assist. The Sound Tigers cut the lead in half when Jeff Hamilton scored with a delayed penalty upcoming. Matt Koalska and Evgeny Tunik picked up assists as the P-Bruins went into the second intermission leading 2-1.
In the third period, the Sound Tigers tied the game at two when David Masse scored from in between the circles on a play set up by Chris Thompson. Bridgeport took their first lead of the game at the 17:27 mark. Tunik put a rebound off a shot from Joe Tallari past P-Bruins netminder Jordan Sigalet. In the last minute of play the P-Bruins were awarded a power play and had a two-man advantage after pulling their goalie. They were unable to score as the Sound Tigers went on to the 3-2 victory.
Sigalet stopped 14 of 17 shots for the P-Bruins, while Dubielewicz stopped 35 of 37 shots for the Sound Tigers. The P-Bruins were 1 for 8 on the power play, while Bridgeport was 0 for 4 on the man-advantage.
The P-Bruins hit the road Saturday, March 18 versus the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center at 7:05 p.m. before return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, March 19 versus the Portland Pirates at 4:05 p.m. Tickets for all P-Bruins regular season home games are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets.
