Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - Rookie left wing Greg Hogeboom jammed in the game-winning overtime goal as the Manchester Monarchs, donned in specialty green jerseys for St. Patrick's Day, charmed their way past the Peoria Rivermen, 2-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena in front of 8,982 fans on Friday night.

Manchester (37-23-2-4, 80 points) is in third place in the Atlantic Division. Peoria (38-22-3-4, 83 points) is in third place in the West Division.

It took 41 minutes and 48 seconds to get the puck in the net but rookie left wing Dany Roussin buried a rebound past Peoria's goaltender Gregg Naumenko during a 5-on-3 power play for his second goal of the season. Right wing Lauri Tukonen stick handled the puck deep in the left corner and then passed it up to defenseman Brad Fast at the point. Fast blasted a slap shot to the net that Naumenko stopped with his pads but the rebound bounced out and Roussin capitalized to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.

The Rivermen evened the score at 1-1 with center Ryan Ramsay's 11th goal of the season coming at 10:52 of the final frame. Ramsay picked up a pass from center Cam Keith and skated down the left side. Stick handling the puck as he went, Ramsay faked a shot that brought Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser to his knees, then the centerman flipped the puck into the open net. Defenseman Mike Mottau also assisted on the Rivermen's lone goal.

Hogeboom scored his first game-winning goal of the season at 4:09 of the overtime session. Defenseman Richard Petiot skated the puck deep into the Rivermen's zone and fed the puck to Hogeboom a split-second before he was buried behind the net by a Peoria player. Hogeboom one-timed the puck five-hole past Naumenko. Defenseman Marty Wilford also assisted on the overtime winner.

Hauser (18-12-2) stopped 33 shots to earn his first win since February 19. Naumenko (1-4-0) took the loss with 26 saves.

Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Peoria was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

The puck drops at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, March 18 at a matinee 2:05 p.m. between the Monarchs and the Lowell Lock Monsters.
