Hershey Bears News Release

The BEARS brought a two goal into the late stages of the third period, but the Sens would rally and win at Broome County Friday night 3-2.

The two teams battled to a scoreless draw in the first twenty minutes, with the Senators firing nine shots at BEARS goaltender Frederic Cassivi. Cassivi also stopped a penalty shot with just over a minute gone in the first when Danny Bois was awarded the chance. HERSHEY picked up eight first period shots against Binghamton backstop Kelly Guard, and the teams headed to the dressing room scoreless after one.

It took some time, but the BEARS finally got on the scoreboard late in the second period. On the power play, Joey Tenute scored his 16th goal of the season with assists going to Jared Aulin and Mike Green. Binghamton would fire ten shots at Cassivi in the second, but HERSHEY held a 1-0 lead entering the final 20 minutes.

Kris Beech got the third period started well with his first goal as a HERSHEY skater, but Binghamton would strike twice to tie the game and win in a five-round shootout. The shootout defeat was the 10th of the season for the BEARS.

The BEARS return home to face the Albany River Rats Saturday night at 7:00 p.m, and will host the Binghamton Senators Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for both games this weekend are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR. Following this weekend's action, HERSHEY will have just nine regular season games remaining.
