P-Bruins Fall to Monarchs 4-2

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 4-2 Wednesday evening in at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from Mikko Lehtonen and Levi Nelson. The P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 2 versus the Hershey Bears at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night.

After a scoreless opening period, the Monarchs took a 1-0 advantage at the 18:46 mark of the second period. Dusty Collins tallied his third goal of the season with Kevin Westgarth and Paul Crosty recording the assist. Manchester took a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.

In the third period, the P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 1:09 mark, while on the power play. Adam McQuaid had the puck at the right point and sent it to Andrew Bodnarchuk at the left point. He found Lehtonen halfway down the left boards as Lehtonen netted his eighth goal of the season. Manchester retook the lead at the 3:46 mark, while on the power play. Scott Parse scored his seventh goal of the season, while Trevor Lewis and Marty Murray had the assists. The Monarchs went right back on the power play and scored at the 4:40 mark. Murray netted his fourth goal of the season with Alec Martinez and Lewis getting the assists. Manchester took a 4-1 advantage at the 6:19 mark. Ryan Murphy scored his third goal of the season on a breakaway with Davis Drewiske grabbing the lone assist. Providence pulled back within two goals at the 6:29 mark. Nelson scored his second goal of the season. The Monarchs held on for the 4-2 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 29 of 33 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Jonathan Bernier made 24 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 1-for-6 on the power play and 6-for-8 on the penalty kill.
