
Filatov Leading Team Russia in World Junior Championships

Ottawa, ON (December 31, 2008) - Syracuse Crunch center Nikita Filatov is currenty participating in the 2008 IIHF Under-20 World Championships, leading Team Russia to a 3-0 start in the tournament.
Filatov, serving as Team Russia's captain, had six shots on goal in his club's 4-1 tournament-opening win over Latvia on December 26. He also registered two goals on four shots and a +2 plus-minus rating in Russia's 5-2 victory over Finland on December 28.
Filatov racked up another four points (3g, 1a) with five shots on goal and a +2 plus-minus rating, helping Russia cruise to an 8-1 win over Slovakia yesterday.
Overall, Filatov has registered six points (5g, 1a) in three games and is currently tied for fifth in the tournament in scoring.
Filatov and Team Russia are back in action today vs. Sweden in the first of two games that feature two undefeated teams at 2:30 ET at the Ottawa Civic Centre.
