Peoria, Ill. (December 31, 2008) - The Milwaukee Admirals scored two goals in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and pull away for a 3-1 win over the Peoria Rivermen on Wednesday night at Carver Arena. The Rivermen outshot the Admirals in every period but Milwaukee scored the final three goals of the game to erase an early lead.

Trent Whitfield scored the game's first goal 5:50 into the second period after hitting a post in the first. Jim Jackson's shot from the right point hit a mass of bodies in the slot and bounced to the side of the goal for Whitfield. He wristed it home before Mark Dekanich could dive across. Josh Soares earned the assist on Whitfield's eighth of the season.

Milwaukee responded immediately with a Kelsey Wilson tally just 28 seconds later. Alexander Sulzer's shot was tipped out of the air by Wilson as he stood at the top of the crease in front of Chris Holt.

Nicholas Drazenovic was called for hooking at 19:02 of the second period and created a power play for the Admirals as the third period began. Just 20 seconds after the opening faceoff, Mike Santorelli added to his team lead in points with his 13th goal of the season.

With 10:57 left in regulation, Jed Ortmeyer tallied the game's final goal. He carried the puck from behind the net to the right circle and quickly turned one on goal and placed one between Holt's legs. It was his sixth goal in as many games.

Peoria failed to capitalize on seven power plays while the Milwaukee scored once on their seven chances. The loss extended the Rivermen's losing streak to four games (0-3-0-1) and the Admirals' winning streak to six games.
