
P-Bruins Drown Lock Monsters, 5-1

Lowell, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Lowell Lock Monsters 5-1 Wednesday evening at the Tsongas Arena. The P-Bruins got goals from Nate Thompson, David Lundbohm, Ben Guite and two from Pascal Pelletier. The P-Bruins are now 27-19-1-2 on the season, 57 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
After a scoreless opening period the Providence Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 12:15 mark of the second period. Ben Walter made a steal behind the Lock Monsters net and put a wraparound shot on Lock Monster netminder Craig Kowalski. Kowalski made the save, but left the rebound just outside the crease for Pelletier who scored over Kowalski's left shoulder. The P-Bruins went into the second intermission leading 1-0.
In the third the Lock Monsters started the period on the power play, but Thompson made a steal and scored shorthanded to give the P-Bruins a 2-0 lead. The Lock Monsters pulled within a goal when Paul Healey scored on the power play at the 4:00 mark with Ryan Glenn and Krys Kolanos getting the assists. The P-Bruins then went on a power play of their own and retook a two goal lead. Jonathan Sigalet took a shot from the blueline and was tipped in front of the net by Lundbohm past Kowalski. Shawn McEachern got the second assist. The P-Bruins added two more goals in the period to take a 5-1 victory. Pelletier scored his second goal of the evening at the 11:35 mark with Lundbohm earning the assist, while Guite scored at the 17:31 mark off a shot from the right point by Scott Ford.
Sigalet stopped 23 of 24 shots for the P-Bruins, while Kowalski stopped 28 of 33 for the Lock Monsters. The P-Bruins were 1 for 5 on the power play, while Lowell was 1 for 5 on the man-advantage.
