February 9, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, recently won two Golden Matrix Awards (GMA), one for "Best Video Display" in the minor league division and one for the "Best Interactive Video Feature Overall" at the Information Display and Entertainment Association (IDEA) Conference, held January 29-February 1 in Los Angeles, California.
Game Operations Manager Kevin Harp and Video Coordinator Dave Lefchak represented the Monarchs at the conference, which recognizes superior achievement throughout the large screen video and matrix display industry. The "Best Interactive Video Feature Overall" award was given to the Monarchs for the "Press Your Puck" video scoreboard game. The video surpassed over 30 professional sports teams throughout the National Hockey League, National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and National Football League for the award. The Atlanta Braves (MLB), the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) and the Monarchs rounded out the top three finalists.
The GMA's recognize artistic and technical excellence in the programming of large screen video and matrix displays located at stadiums, arenas, racetracks, convention centers and other public assembly facilities. The GMA's are also intended to provide an opportunity for the large screen video and matrix display industries to share ideas and to view the wide variety of productions that have been created over the past year.
The Monarchs host the Houston Aeros at the Verizon Wireless Arena for the first time in franchise history on Friday, February 10 at 7:35 p.m.
