Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
Wilkes-Barre - The majority of the players on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton roster have already gone through the thrills of being selected by an NHL team. But they'll all be going back into the draft this evening, when coaches Joe Mullen and Al Sims will pick their players for the 2006 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Skills Competition, presented by Dodge. Coaches Mullen and Sims will conduct the draft during the live broadcast of the Penguins Report Radio Show, which takes place this evening at 7:00pm at the Arena Bar and Grill on Coal Street. The actual competition will take place on Sunday, March 5 at 5:00pm, and will feature two teams of Penguins players competing in events including Fastest Skater, Puck Control Relay, Rapid Fire, Hardest Shot and Most Accurate Shot. JRP Group, Inc., the same company which will ran the skills contest at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic, will be conducting the local event as well. In addition to the Penguins, youth hockey players from the Pocono Pirates and Bethlehem Blast organizations will compete during the evening, with their point totals being added to those of their Penguins' counterparts. Tom Grace, the Voice of the Penguins, will serve as emcee of the event, conducting on-ice interviews during the competition. Tickets for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Skills Competition, presented by Dodge, are on sale now at the Wachovia Arena box office. Ticket price is $11.50 and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Penguins/United Way Charity Fund, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and area youth hockey organizations.
