
P-Bruins Defeat Whale 4-2

Hartford, CT - The Providence Bruins defeated the Connecticut Whale4-2 Tuesday evening at the XL Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Kirk MacDonald, Jeremy Reich and two goals from Maxime Sauve. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for RI Lottery Hat Night against the Portland Pirates.
The P-Bruins took the 1-0 lead at the 17:05 mark of the opening period. Jeff Penner sent the puck down the left wing to MacDonald who picked it up along the board. He shot the puck towards the net and slipped it between the legs of Whale goaltender Chad Johnson and into the net for his ninth goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
Connecticut tied the game at one at the 3:01 mark, while on the power play. Dale Weise tallied his eighth goal of the season, with Tim Kennedy and Oren Eizenman recording the assists. The Whale took the lead at the 7:20 mark, while on the power play. Weise netted his second goal of the game and ninth of the season, with Jason Williams and Jeremy Williams picking up the assists. Connecticut led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins tied the game at two at the 6:16 mark of the third period, while on the power play. David Ling held the puck at the right point and pasted it to Colby Cohen at the left point. He fired the puck towards the net and it was tipped in by Sauve, his 11th goal of the season. Providence retook the lead at the 10:23 mark. Yury Alexandrov sent the puck into the zone where Jamie Arniel picked it up in the slot. He left it for Sauve on the side of the net, who scored his second goal of the game and 12th goal of the season. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring at the 18:56 mark with an unassisted empty net goal from Reich, his tenth goal of the season. Providence went onto the 4-2 victory.
Nolan Schaefer stopped 27 of 29 shots for the P-Bruins, while Johnson made 31 saves for the Whale. The P-Bruins were 2-for-6 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins are back in action at The Dunk Friday against the Pirates at 7:05 p.m. for RI Lottery Hat Night.
