Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons centerman Colin McDonald was named to the American Hockey League Western Conference All Star Team, the league's front office announced today.
McDonald, a 6-3, 205-pounder from Hartford, Conn. is having the best season of his professional career, already surpassing his previous career bests in goals and points. He leads the Barons in goals with 23, a mark that puts him second in the AHL. McDonald has appeared in all 47 Barons games this season.
McDonald will replace Linus Omark on the AHL's Western Conference squad. Omark, named to the AHL All Star Team earlier this month, is with the Edmonton Oilers. In 18 games this season with Edmonton, Omark has recorded eight points (2-6-8).
Barons winger Alex Giroux will join McDonald on the Western Conference All Star squad as the captain. Giroux was selected as the captain by AHL President Dave Andrews for his service and leadership within the league. Giroux currently leads the Barons in scoring with 52 points (22-30-52). His point total is good for second in the league while his goal total puts him third.
