
P-Bruins Defeat Monarchs 7-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Manchester Monarchs 7-2 Sunday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Eric Healey, Ben Guite, Mark Stuart, Nathan Robinson, Nate Thompson and two from Tyler Redenbach. The P-Bruins are now 30-24-1-3 on the season, 64 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead on the power play. Jonathan Sigalet fed David Lundbohm with the puck as he was skating down the right wing. As he got to the right circle he sent the puck backdoor to Redenbach. With Manchester goaltender Barry Brust on the right post, Redenbach floated the puck into an empty net. The P-Bruins took a 2-0 lead on their second power play opportunity of the evening. Sigalet worked the puck around the boards before it was picked up by Lundbohm. He passed the puck to Healey who was in the slot and backhanded the puck past Brust. The Monarchs cut the lead in half heading into the first intermission. Mark Ardelan scored on the power play at the 9:35 mark with Marty Wilford and Petr Kanko getting the assists. The P-Bruins went into the first intermission leading 2-1.
The P-Bruins scored the lone goal in the second period. Jeremy Reich took a shot from the left circle, which was stopped by Brust. The rebound was left in front of the net as both Jason MacDonald and Guite went after it. MacDonald tipped the puck initially before Guite pushed it past Brust to give the P-Bruins a 3-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
In the third period, the P-Bruins erupted for four goals starting off with a power play goal from Mark Stuart at the 3:25 mark. Healey setup the play with a pass from behind the net to Stuart who was parked in the slot. Redenbach had the other assist. The P-Bruins scored minutes later when Robinson and Ben Walter skated into the zone 2 on 1. Walter fed Robinson who flipped the puck past Brust. Jay Leach had the second assist. Providence went up 6-1 when Redenbach tallied his second goal of the game at the 6:27 mark. Healey and Sigalet got the assists. The P-Bruins added one more at the 10:43 mark of the period as MacDonald fed Thompson from behind the net and Thompson beat Brust to score. Reich had his second assist of the evening on the play. Manchester capped off the scoring with a goal at the 15:33 mark from Konstantin Pushkarev. Jeff Giuliano and Brad Smyth had the assists as the P-Bruins went on to a 7-2 victory.
Sigalet stopped 26 of 28 shots for the P-Bruins, while Brust stopped 28 of 35 shots for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 3 for 8 on the power play, while Manchester was 1 for 7 on the man-advantage.
The P-Bruins hit the road for two games Friday, March 3 at the Philadelphia Phantoms at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, March 5 at the Hershey Bears at 5:00 p.m. The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, March 10 to face the Lowell Lock Monsters at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all P-Bruins regular season home games are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets.
