Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - Binghamton rallied late in Saturday's game to force overtime against Hamilton, but the Senators could not get the bonus point as Hamilton prevailed with a 3-2 shootout victory before a crowd of 4,610 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Defenseman Filip Novak scored with less than three minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game at two goals each. But Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Corey Locke and Brad Winchester scored three straight times in the shootout to clinch the win.

Jeff Heerema gave the B-Sens an early 1-0 lead with his 17th goal of the year at the 4:27 mark of the opening frame. Charlie Stephens and Danny Bois each recorded an assist on Heerema's power-play marker.

Binghamton took its 1-0 lead into the second period, but it did not last long as the visiting Bulldogs evened the score 1-1 just 5:16 into the second period. Andrei Kostitsyn netted his 11th tally of the year, on the power play, to tie the game. Corey Locke picked up the lone assist on the Kostitsyn goal.

The team's headed into the dressing after 40 minutes deadlocked at one goal a piece. But it would not remain that way for long as Hamilton's Brad Winchester scored 23 seconds into the third period.

Hamilton goalie Jaroslav Halak stopped 38 of 40 shots in his first American Hockey League start. The rookie goaltender was called up from Long Beach of the ECHL on Wednesday. Billy Thompson made 30 saves on 32 shots in the loss.

The Sens scored on one of six power-play chances while Hamilton scored twice on eight tries.

Binghamton returns to action tomorrow night with a 4:05 p.m. face off in Bridgeport. Follow all of the action against the Sound Tigers live on 680 WINR-AM or on the web through the B2 Networks.
