Sharks recall right wing Steve Bernier from Barons

CLEVELAND - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced that the club has recalled right wing Steve Bernier from the Cleveland Barons.

Bernier has 43 points (20-23-43) and 33 penalty minutes in 49 games with the Barons this season. The six-foot-two, 230-pound right wing is currently third on the team in scoring and 9th among AHL rookie scoring leaders.

The first year professional has played in 13 games with the Sharks, earning five points (1-4-5) and a plus-two plus/minus rating. He returns to San Jose with a three game assist streak (0-3-3) intact.

The San Jose Sharks drafted the native of Quebec City, Quebec in the first round (16th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Barons will return to National City Rink located in The Q on Friday, March 3rd against the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:05pm.
