Rivermen lose one player, add another

Peoria, IL (February 25, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) has recalled right wing Lee Stempniak (STIHMP-nee-ak) from his loan to the Rivermen. McDonald also announced that the Rivermen have signed defenseman Ed Hill to a 25-game professional try-out (PTO) contract.

Stempniak, 23, returns to the Blues for his fourth stint with the NHL team this season. In 31 games played for St. Louis so far in 2005-06, the 6-0, 195-pound rookie right wing has recorded 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) and 12 penalty minutes. The native of West Seneca, New York, has also scored 15 points (8 goals, 7 assists) with the Rivermen this season, in addition to accumulating 32 minutes in penalties and 26 appearances in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Hill, 25, joins the AHL Peoria Rivermen for the first time. A 6-3, 210-pound defenseman, he has so far split this season between the ECHL Utah Grizzlies (30 GP, 6-14-20 PTS, 38 PIM), the ECHL Phoenix Roadrunners (12 GP, 0-12-12 PTS, 23 PIM), and the AHL San Antonio Rampage (4 GP, 0-2-2 PTS, 2 PIM). Last season, in addition to seeing action in 12 tilts with the ECHL Florida Everblades, the product of Newburyport, Massachusetts, appeared in 54 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL and registered 25 points (6 goals, 19 assists) and 42 penalty minutes.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
