P-Bruins Closing In On 500th Franchise Victory

The Providence Bruins earned four of a possible six points this past weekend picking up home victories over the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Springfield Falcons. Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Nathan Robinson scored early in the third period to lead the P-Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Wolf Pack. After falling to Hartford 6-2 on Saturday, the P-Bruins returned home Sunday looking to rebound, and did so with an 8-2 victory over the Falcons. Eric Healey had two goals in the game, while Jay Leach, David Lundbohm, Ben Guite and Pascal Pelletier each had three point nights. With the two wins the P-Bruins are 23-17-1-1, 48 points, on the season and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, only five points behind the third place Wolf Pack.

With a win this weekend the P-Bruins have a chance to pick up the franchises 500th all-time victory. The P-Bruins enter this weekend with a 499-440-143 all time record and begin their three game weekend at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 27 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Providence hits the road Saturday, January 28 at the MassMutual Center versus the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m., before returning home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, January 29 to face the reigning Calder Cup Champion Philadelphia Phantoms at 4:05 p.m. Tickets for all P-Bruins regular season home games are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets. Healey continues to lead the P-Bruins in scoring with 41 points (19g, 22a). Next week he will be in Manitoba for the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Earlier this season, Healey was named captain of Team Planet/USA. Nathan Robinson is second on the team in scoring with 36 points (18g, 18a). Rookie Tyler Redenbach remains third on the P-Bruins in scoring with 30 points (11g, 19a). He also leads the team in plus/minus at +12. Guite is fourth on the team in scoring with 29 points (14g, 15a) and leads the P-Bruins in power play goals with seven. Zdenek Blatny rounds out the top five on the P-Bruins in scoring with 23 points (6g, 17a).
