Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-Maybe it was a little overconfidence after winning eight-straight at home and playing the last place team in the division. Or maybe it was the fact that they left Monsignor Roberto Zagnoli, visiting from the Vatican, waiting at center ice for the ceremonial face-off.

Whatever the reason, the Milwaukee Admirals got off to a slow start and were never able to recover as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday night at the Bradley Center.

After a scoreless first period, the Rampage took advantage of two consecutive Milwaukee penalties to go up 2-0. Former Admiral Brad Tiley lit the lamp on San Antonio's second goal when he redirected an Eric Chouinard pass past Ads goalie Pekka Rinne.

The Admirals looked to get back into the game when Kevin Klein scored on a two-on-none rush at the 18:14 mark of the second period. However, the Rampage would score the next two goals to put the game out of reach.

The loss snapped the team's second eight-game home winning streak of the season and it marked the first time all year that the team had lost a game at the Bradley Center when they scored a goal. The Ads were 17-3 at the BC coming into tonight's game, but in all three loses they had been shutout.

The loss also snapped an eight-game home winning streak for Rinne. That was one win short of the team record for consecutive home wins of nine.

Traveling with the exhibit Saint Peter and the Vatican: The Legacy of the Popes, Monsignor Zagnoli is the Curator of the Vatican Museums. He is in town from Rome for the opening of the exhibit on February 4th at the Milwaukee Public Museum.

The Admirals hit the road for a pair of games in Cleveland this weekend before taking four five days off for the all-star break. The next Milwaukee home game will be on February 3rd when they play host to the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
