Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announce today that Michel Ouellet and David Koci have been assigned to the Nailers from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. They will both be expected to be in the Nailers line-up on Friday night when the team travels to play the Toledo Storm.

Ouellet is a first year professional from Rimouski, PQ where he played four seasons for the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. During his career with the Oceanic he scored 299 points in 224 games. Ouellet scored a career high 98 points during the 2001-2002 season on 40 goals and 58 assists in 61 games. Ouellet has been with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins since the end of training camp and appeared in one game without registering a point.

Koci returns to the Nailers after splitting his 2001-2002 season between the Nailers and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The second year professional from the Czech Republic has been with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins since the end of training camp but has not appeared in a regular season game.

"The addition of these two players and Andrew McPherson earlier this week will certainly help our team," said Nailers Head Coach John Brophy. "Koci is a big man that will help us defensively and Ouellet has great offensive instincts and will be expected to produce for us at this level. He and McPherson are great additions to the forwards we already have.

Ouellet and Koci were both drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Ouellet was selected in the fourth round, 124th overall and Koci was selected in the fifth round, 146th overall.

The Nailers next home game is Saturday, October 26 against the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at 7:30p.m. at the Wheeling Civic Center. For ticket information to all Nailers home games call the Nailers at 234-4625 or toll free at 1-877-NAIL-TIX.
