Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) - The Gateway Grizzlies beat the Evansville Otters 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Historic Bosse Field.
Logan Parker hit a two-run homer for the Grizzlies, who completed a sweep of the Evansville Otters.
Parker's shot started the scoring in the top of the first inning but the Otters rallied back for a pair of runs in the bottom half against Gateway right-hander Adrian Garza. A double-steal and throwing error from Charlie Lisk plated the first run as outfielder Vinnie Scarduzio then drove in the tying run on a double to left field.
Gateway and Evansville remained tied until the 4th inning when the Grizzlies added another run for the 3-2 lead. Lisk then doubled in a run during the 5th and outfielder Joe Agreste singled home Lisk for the three run lead.
Evansville countered with a Greg Alexander RBI single in the bottom of the 5th to narrow the deficit to two runs but the bullpens took over after that.
The releivers combined for eight innings while only allowing one run total on a sacrifice fly from Charlie Lisk in the final inning.
Gateway is now 5-4 this season following the win as Evansville is currently 1-8.
The Otters are off on Monday but but begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday. The first three games will be at the Windy City Thunderbolts before taking on the Joliet Slammers next weekend.
