River City Rascals News Release
Florence, KY - River City committed three errors in the fourth inning that led to six Florence runs, and the Freedom rode Tim Holmes' perfect game bid through six innings as the Rascals fell 8-1.
Already trailing 2-0 after three, River City could not muster a hit, let alone a base runner, before the Freedom plated six runs in the fourth, five unearned against Rascals' starter Sean Toler (0-1).
Holmes (1-0) carried a perfect game into the seventh when Chris McClendon drove his first homerun of the season into the Rascals bullpen in left to end the perfect game, no-hit, and shutout bid. Chad Maddox had the other two hits for River City as Holmes went the distance for his first win in 2011.
After an off-day on Monday, the Rascals are back in action Tuesday night with the Rockford RiverHawks in town to begin a six-game home stand with the first pitch slated for 7:05 CT. River City will host a scissors-paper-rock tournament Tuesday night at the ballpark and you can catch all the action on Westplex News-Talk 94.1 or online at westplexnewstalk.com.
