TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - Matt Zoltak combined with the Rockford bullpen on a five-hitter Sunday as the RiverHawks beat the Traverse City Beach Bums, 5-4.
Zoltak (1-0) struck out six, walked one and held the Bums to two runs, one earned, on four hits over seven innings for the win. Brett Durand got the last four outs for his third save.
Jake Eigsti was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles and extended his season-long hitting streak to nine games. Eigsti broke a scoreless tie with a first-inning hit - Rockford led from the first inning on - and drove in an insurance run in the eighth. Cameron Satterwhite hit a second-inning home run and was 2-for-4.
Traverse City starter Eric Thomas (0-2) gave up four runs, three earned, on four hits over seven innings and took the loss.
The RiverHawks are off on Monday. They open a three-game series at River City at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
The RiverHawks' next home game is 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 against the River City Rascals. Petco sponsors the Bark in the Park. Fans are invited to bring their dogs to the stadium on Tuesday night home games. Thompsons' Transmission sponsors Kids Eat Free Tuesdays.
