May 21, 2014 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (2-1) host the Rockford Aviators tonight in a doubleheader at Historic Bosse Field. It is also the Otters home opener on Deaconess Senior Night with the doubleheader being sponsored by Carson's Brewery. First pitch is set for 5:35 pm CT at Bosse Field with both games scheduled for seven innings. There will be a special CPR training between games of the doubleheader. The second game will begin about 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.
The Otters enter this homestand after winning two of three games at the Normal CornBelters this past weekend. It was the first time Evansville has won a series at the Corn Crib since the Otters swept Normal in 2011 (Evansville swept the full six game roadtrip that season including a three game sweep at Florence as well).
The Otters are the longest running franchise in the Frontier League and have more wins (795) than any other team in league history. Evansville plays their home games at historic Bosse Field, which was built in 1915 and is the third oldest baseball stadium in America. Bosse Field is now in its 99th year of existence.
Evansville will have RHP Robert Ramer (0-0, 0.00 ERA) pitching in game one against RHP Joey Wagman (Season Debut). Game two will feature Otters RHP Preston Olson (Season Debut) vs. RHP Ryan Zimmerman (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
Outfielder John Schultz has hit safely in all three of Evansville's games this season. He is on a five game hitting streak after hitting safely in each of the last two games of 2013 as well. 1B/DH Nik Balog also has a hit in each game this season. Infielder Josh Allen has hit safely in back to back games, going 5-for-8 and having the second highest batting average in the Frontier League (.625).
