Evansville Otters News Release

Rockford, IL - There's no halftime in baseball to make adjustments or regroup, but there was a stark difference between the first and second half of Tuesday's ball game between the Evansville Otters and Rockford Riverhawks. A 1-1 game after 4 ½ innings turned into a 10-1 Rockford rout by the time things wrapped up.

The 'Hawks pulled away in the bottom of the fifth inning. Two errors and a wild pitch set the stage for Derrick Walker. With runners on second and third Walker singled to left, scoring Jono Brooks and Caleb Fields. Brandon Cohen followed with a single to drive in Fields.

Rockford added two in the seventh on an RBI double from Fields and a sacrifice fly from Derrick Walker. The final three runs came in the eighth inning when Giovanni Cotto balked with a runner on third and Fields delivered a 2-run double.

The lone Otters run came in the second inning when Frank Meade walked, Eric Blackwell doubled, and Cameron Satterwhite grounded out to shortstop, allowing Meade to score from third.

'Hawks' starter Tanner Watson (4-2 )was brilliant, allowing only one run on two hits over seven innings while striking out a season-high ten. Otters' starter Steven Brock (0-1) was impressive in his first start of the year, not allowing an earned run in his six innings of work. Five unearned runs came across thanks to four Otters' errors.

The three game series resumes Wednesday at 7:05pm CDT.
