
Grizzlies Fall for Fourth Straight Loss

CRESTWOOD, IL-The Gateway Grizzlies committed three errors Wednesday night and the Windy City ThunderBolts took advantage. Windy City scored seven unearned runs on their way to a 9-4 win over the Grizzlies in game two of a three-game series at Standard Bank Stadium. It is the fourth consecutive loss by the Grizzlies.
Gateway (27-40) managed just five hits Wednesday night, and has just 10 hits in the first two games of the series.
Windy City (39-29) took an early lead, scoring in the second inning against Grizzlies starter Mark Brackman. J.T. Restko led off the second inning with a double, moved to third on a ground out then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kraig Binick to make it 1-0 ThunderBolts. They ballooned the lead to 6-0 with a five-run fifth, on just two hits. The Grizzlies committed a pair of errors in the inning leading to four unearned runs.
Jonathan Quigley got the Grizzlies on the board in the fifth inning with an RBI double that scored Nate Lape. Lape had walked earlier in the inning. Quigley scored later in the inning on an error. Quigley was 1-3 with the RBI and run scored.
Brackman would again be the victim of the error in the home half of the sixth. Windy City went up 9-2, scoring three more unearned runs thanks to a two-out error. Brackman (4-8) lasted just six innings in the loss. He allowed all nine runs, two earned, on four hits. He struck out four.
Charlie Lisk picked up an RBI double in the eighth and the Grizzlies tallied another run on a wild pitch for the 9-4 final. Lisk finished 2-4 with the RBI.
The Grizzlies and ThunderBolts conclude the series Thursday night in Crestwood. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.
