
Orioles Recall Birkins, Designate Shuey For Assignment

The Orioles today announced that LHP Kurt Birkins has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and RHP Paul Shuey has been designated for assignment.
Birkins has made 7 appearances for the Orioles and is 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA (12.2IP, 14ER). He has gone 8-4 with a 3.07 ERA (105.2IP, 36ER) and 98 strikeouts in 20 games (19 starts) for Norfolk.
Shuey appeared in 25 games for the Orioles, going 0-1 with one save and a 9.82 ERA (25.2IP, 28ER).
