Richmond, VA - FasMart Stores, the Richmond Braves, the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Virginia 529 College Savings Plan are pleased to announce that we have selected Grayson Tucker as the August "FasMart Grand Slam Kid." Grayson is beginning his senior year at Cosby High School. He plays both football and tennis for the school and has served as president of the schools Varsity Club. He maintains a 3.66 GPA despite time he spends with athletics and holding down a part-time job. Grayson also volunteers at local elementary schools twice a week to help students at that level.

Grayson is also very active in his church. He has gone on mission trips including a trip to New Orleans to help Katrina victims clean out their homes. He sings and helps lead devotionals with his youth group Southwest Impact.

Grayson was nominated for this award by his sister Hayley. Hayley attends college in Nashville, TN. She credits Grayson with saving her life back in 2005 when she went into cardiac arrest caused by an undetected heart defect while on a church retreat. His quick reactions and knowledge of his sister's history helped a doctor revive her and following diagnosis and surgery he aided her recovery.

Grayson Tucker will receive the $500 monthly scholarship prize in pre-game ceremonies prior to the start of the Braves game versus the Durham Bulls on Wednesday August 29th.

As one of the five monthly winners selected in this program, Grayson will be eligible for the $2500 scholarship to be awarded in September as the FasMart Grand Slam Kid of the Year.
