
Braves Regain Wildcard Lead

Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Charlotte Knights 5-1 at The Diamond Tuesday. The Braves win, combined with Syracuse 8-4 win over Buffalo, moved the Braves back into the Wild Card lead by a half-game with six games remaining in the regular season.
The Braves grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Brandon Jones. Richmond bumped the lead to 2-0 in the second on a Wes Timmons sacrifice fly. Larry Bigbie's two-run single in the third stretched the Braves advantage to 4-0. The Braves tacked on one more run in the fifth on an RBI double by Brayan Pena. The Knights picked up their run in the sixth on an RBI single by Casey Rogowski.
Francisley Bueno pitched 6.2 innings to earn the win. Nick Masset took the loss. Bigbie and Jones each had two hits for the Braves. Alex Sanchez had three hits for the Knights.
The Braves now face the first-place Durham Bulls in a two game series starting Wednesday at 7 PM at The Diamond. The Braves trail the Bulls by two games in the South Division.
