Buffalo Bisons News Release

The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons' OF Ben Francisco has been selected by the league as a post season All-Star.

Francisco, 25, has excelled at the plate all season long for the Bisons. He currently leads the entire International League with his .322 (116-360) batting average. With only seven games left in the season, Francisco is aiming to become the first Bisons player to win a batting championship since Mark Ryal hit .334 in 1990 in the American Association.

Along with his high average, Francisco leads the Bisons in stolen bases (22), on-base percentage (.387, -4th in the IL) and slugging percentage (.500 -7th in IL). He's also 2nd on the team in hits (116), doubles (27) and runs scored (58), 3rd in extra-base hits (40) and 6th in RBI (47). A consistent hitter, Francisco had a 19-game hit streak, May 9 - June 7 (.423, 33-78) and a 15-game hit streak, August 2-16 (.381, 24-63). On May 9, he launched one of the Bisons' three grand slams of 2007.

This season is the third for Francisco in Buffalo. He played in four games with the Bisons late in 2005 before helping the team in the playoffs. In 2006, Francisco was the team's Co-MVP (with Jason Dubois) after hitting .278 with 17 home runs, 59RBI and 25 stolen bases in 134 games.

In his Bisons career, Francisco has averaged .300 with 60 doubles, six triples, 28 home runs, 109RBI and 48 stolen bases in 229 games. His average is T7th highest in the Bisons Modern Era (500AB minimum). He also ranks 7th in stolen bases and T7th in doubles for Buffalo since 1985.
