Norfolk Tides News Release

August 28, 2007 - Former Tide Jae Seo allowed one run on three hits in six innings of work, pitching the Durham Bulls past Norfolk 5-2 Tuesday night.

Seo (8-4) retired the first 12 batters of the game before Terry Tiffee led off the 5th inning with a double to right. Seo threw just 82 pitches in six innings of work, striking out three without walking a batter.

After Seo and Tides starter Tim Kester (9-9) cruised through the first four innings, Kester ran into trouble in the fifth. The Bulls pounded out five hits in the frame, including run-scoring doubles by Jorge Velandia and Jason Pridie to take a 4-0 lead.

Tiffee led off the fifth with a double for Norfolk, and came around to score on a two-out single by catcher Alberto Castillo. Castillo has now reached base safely in 27 consecutive home games, a stretch that dates back to May 18.

Norfolk pulled to within 4-2 on an RBI double by Val Majewski in the seventh inning, but Durham extended its lead to 5-2 with a run in the eighth.

Shawn Camp then threw a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his fourth save of the year.

Mike Cervenak went 2-for-4 for the Tides, and the 30-year-old infielder now has an International League leading 153 base hits this season.

Norfolk welcomes in the Charlotte Knights to Harbor Park on Wednesday night for the start of a two-game series. Craig Anderson (6-3, 3.27) is slated to take the hill for the Tides against knuckleballer Charlie Haeger (5-14, 4.41), with first pitch set for 7:15 p.m.
