Operation X-mas in Iraq
November 5, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
The Louisiana IceGators organization would like to introduce Project "Mission Acadiana Military Aid" or Project M.A.M.A. This is a team initiative to help support the members of the military and their families during the 2004-2005 season.
The Louisiana IceGators has set aside December 19, 2004 and March 20, 2005 as our "Armed Forces Night". On these nights local military personnel and their families will be honored by the Louisiana IceGators organization and the Acadiana community. Children of these military families will be allowed to skate with the players after the game, meet the team, take pictures, and get autographs.
The Louisiana IceGators organization is asking for your help. We will have a supply drop-off table inside the front doors of the Cajundome to collect supplies for our troops before every home game. Also, we are asking the community to donate tickets for these games so that the families can enjoy these games at no cost. Any person or business wanting to donate tickets to these families will receive the "10th Anniversary Special" rate of $10.00 a ticket. Please pass this information on to your friends and employers. Any company or individual that donates tickets for the military families will be recognized in Gator Bites and on the Vision Board on these two nights. If you have any questions or are interested in donating tickets, please contact us at 234-4423 or info@icegators.com.
The Louisiana IceGators organization would also like to tell you about "Operation Christmas in Iraq". The goal of this campaign is to provide every Soldier with a gift from home. You can adopt a Soldier for $30, and you will receive a beautiful "Operation Iraqi Freedom" Keepsake Christmas Ornament with each adoption. If you have any questions regarding "Operation Christmas in Iraq" please contact Geneva Stelly @662-6991 or Ann Rudolph @501-8286. The deadline for this project is November 15, 2005.
The Louisiana IceGators organization appreciate any assistance you can provide for "Armed Forces Night" and "Operation Christmas in Iraq". We are looking forward to honoring these brave men and women and their families.
Nancy Gordon
Project M.A.M.A. Director
