Trenton Devils News Release

CHARLOTTE, NJ (November 5, 2004) - The Trenton Titans stayed undefeated this season with help of two Rick Kowalsky goals in 4-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers in front of 4,470 at Cricket Arena.

It took Kowalsky just 15 seconds to put the Titans up 1-0 as he took a Scott Bertoli centering pass and roofed it over Checkers goalie Alex Westlund.

The Titans were able to extend their lead to three goals with the help of the power play. Leon Hayward and Kowalsky both lit the lamp on the man-advantage as the Titans built a 3-0 lead. The Checkers, however, answered with a power play goal of their own as Mike Harder tipped in a rebound at 18:11 of the first to make it 3-1.

B.J. Abel added his first goal of the season at 13:46 of the second period to make the final score 4-1.

Chris Houle made 45 saves on 46 shots to record his first win of the season. Former Titans goalie Alex Westlund made 21 saves to suffer his first loss of the year.

The Titans return home to take on the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday, November 6 at 7:00pm.

Don't miss "Along the Boards" with host Mike O'Brien, Head Coach Mike Haviland and center Steve Cygan this Monday, November 8, from 7-8pm at First and Ten at 1961 Hamilton Avenue in Hamilton, NJ.
