Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

COLUMBIA, SC – John Longo scored two goals in his Columbia debut, and Rob McVicar kept Pee Dee off of the scoreboard as the Inferno defeated the Pride 3-0 Friday night at the Carolina Coliseum. The Inferno scored the only goal of the opening period, taking advantage of a fluky bounce. Steve Slaton's shot from the point hit off the back of Longo and changed directions on Pride goaltender for Sebastien Laplante at 15:20 to make it 1-0 Columbia. Columbia doubled its lead at the 17:34 mark of the second period. Laplante tried to cut off a puck behind his net, but was unable to do so. That left the net open for Brad Ralph, and he was able to one-time a shot past the Pride goaltender for his fifth goal of the year. The Inferno took a three-goal advantage at 7:51 of the third. Bryson Busniuk centered a pass in front for Longo, and he was able to slide it past Laplante for his second of the night. Pee Dee plays the second game of a four-game road trip Sunday afternoon at Greenville, with face-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Catch all of the action on WDAR Sunny 105.5 starting with the Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show at 2:40.
