Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
LOUISVILLE, KEN. - The Omaha Storm Chasers once again fought to take a lead late but for the third time in the week were walked off on as the Louisville Bats scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to beat Omaha 5-4 and sweep the weeklong series.
The two teams traded solo home runs in the first half of the game, including Tyler Gentry's 12th of the year in the top of the third inning, at the time tying the score at 1-1.
Evan Sisk served as the opener and held the Bats to a second inning solo homer in 2.0 innings of work and Jackson Kowar followed with 3.0 innings of scoreless, one-hit baseball to keep the game tied into the sixth inning.
Right-hander Joe Barlow made his Royals organization debut and allowed single runs in the sixth and seventh on three hits, including a home run, to give the Bats a 3-1 lead into eighth inning.
The Storm Chasers opened the eight innings with three straight singles, from Gentry, John Rave and Nate Eaton, then Adeiny Hechavarría doubled all three in with still no outs for a 4-3 Omaha lead. After Hechavarría's double, Omaha managed just one baserunner through the rest of the game, a walk to Clay Dungan.
Right-hander Will Klein worked around a pair of two-out baserunners in the bottom of the eighth, but after Omaha went quietly in the top of the ninth, a hit batter and trio of singles for Louisville not only tied the game but won it, a 5-4 lead to finish the sweep over the Storm Chasers.
Gentry finished the day 3-for-5 and scored two of Omaha's three runs, while the team combined to draw six walks, including Nick Loftin twice.
With a two-week road trip over, Omaha returns home to open a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs at Werner Park Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. CT.
