HOME: 19-26 (39-33 in ‘04) AWAY: 26-30 (32-40 in '04) vs. Nashville: 9-5 (N/A in '04)

TODAY: The Royals host Nashville in game 3 of a 4-game series, which is tied 1-1. Omaha is 3-3 on the home stand. Air-time is 1:15 p.m. on Magic 1490 and at www.Oroyals.com.

LAST NIGHT: Chris Truby snapped a 5-5 tie in the 7th inning by belting the Royals first grand slam of the season and the Royals wound up drubbing Nashville 14-6. Truby's slam came with two outs in the 7th on a 2-2 pitch from Clint Weibl. The Royals scored their final five runs, tacking on seven of their season-high 19 hits, in the 8th inning off shortstop/mop-up reliever Steve Scarborough. Aaron Guiel scored three runs and had three hits, including his 23rd home run of the season. Shane Nance (3-2) got the win, giving up two runs in 3.0 innings of relief. Nashville starter Jeff Housman (4-8) took the loss.

ROYALS REPORT: Truby, who had gone just 1-for-9 with the bases loaded this season prior to last night, delivered the Royals' first slam since Dee Brown connected on August 29, 2004 in a 12-8 victory over the Iowa Cubs at Rosenblatt. Truby has smacked four homers and knocked in nine runs over his last eight games, going 9-for-31 (.290). *** Guiel has blasted five round-trippers in the past five contests. He's 10-for-20 with ten RBI and eight runs in his bid for PCL Batter of the Week. *** Denny Hocking is hot, hitting .452 (14-31) over his last eight games and scoring ten runs over that span. *** Adrian Brown picked up his first stolen base last night in exactly one month, covering 24 games. Brown has something in common with Guiel; they rank second in the PCL in stolen bases and home runs with 25 and 23, respectively and are only one shy of the league leaders. *** Chad Santos owns a .321 average (17-53) over his last 13 games, driving in ten runs. He has hit three homers in his past nine starts. *** Over his last 15 tilts, Calvin Pickering is hitting at a .339 clip (19-56), belting five homers and knocking in 16 runs. *** Justin Gemoll has a .354 average (17-48) in his past 13 contests, raising his average 12 points to .290. *** In five games since coming back down from KC, Matt Diaz is 7-for-21 (.333) with two RBI and four runs scored. *** Paul Phillips, in a 6-for-49 slide (.122) prior to last night, ripped two doubles, driving in a pair of runs and scoring twice himself. *** Scott Walter is 4-for-20 (.200) with two RBI and four runs in the five games he has played in this month.

STARTERS: RH Rick Helling (8-3, 4.26) vs. LH Chris George (6-6, 5.25)

George makes his 19th start (21st appearance) of the season. The 25-year old southpaw's last start was Tuesday vs. Round Rock; he was not involved in the decision in an 11-10 win (6.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R-4 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2 HR). Over his last three starts, George is 0-1 with a 9.28 ERA. In two starts vs. the Sounds, he's 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA. George is still looking for his first win at home, going 0-5 at Rosenblatt; he's 6-1 on the road. In 2004, he went 8-6 with a 3.42 ERA in 20 games (19 starts) for Omaha and was 1-2 with a 7.23 ERA in 10 games (7 starts) for KC. George was selected by KC as a sandwich pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds (31st overall) of the 1998 draft out of Klein (TX) HS.

Mon., 12:05: RH Ben Hendrickson (4-7, 4.46) vs. RH Shawn Camp (3-6, 3.86)
