Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA-The Portland Beavers defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 6-1 in front of 8,623 fans Saturday night at Grizzlies Stadium. Portland starter RHP Mike Thompson (1-0) held the Grizzlies to just one hit over seven innings of work to earn the win in his triple-A debut.
Fresno did not get on the board until pinch-hitter Doug Clark drove the first pitch he saw over the left field wall with one out in the bottom of the ninth to cut the score to 6-1. LF Adam Shabala had the only other Fresno hit, a single to right in the fourth inning. Shabala was 1-2 and reached base safely four times in his first game back with the Grizzlies since returning from the Giants yesterday. RHP Jeremy Fikac (3-7) took the loss for Fresno allowing four runs on eight hits in four innings of work.
The Grizzlies and Beavers will play the third game of a four-game series tomorrow at Grizzlies Stadium at 6:05 P.M. The Fresno Bee Family Day, presented by The Fresno Bee, returns where families can spend a very affordable time at the ballpark with a $40 package that includes four Field Level Reserved tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and a free movie rental from Hollywood Video. The Fresno Bee Poster Series continues with the first 2,500 fans receiving a poster featuring All-Star catcher Yamid Haad.
