
Express blow out 'Birds, 13-5

Memphis, Tenn. - Round Rock scored six run in the eighth inning to turn a close game into a blowout and went on to win 13-5 Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
The first six Express players to the plate in the sixth inning all reached base and scored in an inning that saw 10 Round Rock players come to the dish. A pair of singles and a pair of doubles with two walks and an error led to all the damage. Eight different Express players had a hit and five different players had at least two hits on the afternoon. Alex Eckelman drove in four runs and Carlos Rivera had a three-run double for Round Rock.
For Memphis, CF Skip Schumaker went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI. LF Raul Gonzalez also went deep with a solo shot in the eighth inning.
Redbirds starter Adam Wainwright (6-7) took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits in five innings. The Cardinals No. 2 prospect walked four and struck out six. Brandon Duckworth (5-3) picked up the victory with six innings of work. He allowed four runs on seven hits with six K's.
The âBirds and Express will meet tomorrow night for the final time this season. RHP Anthony Reyes (7-3) will oppose Round Rock's RHP Ezequiel Astacio (4-4). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
