Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

TONIGHT: The Royals face Iowa in game 3 of their 4-game series at Principal Park. Omaha is 1-1 on the series and 10-4 on the road trip. Air-time is 6:45 on Magic 1490 and at www.Oroyals.com.

SUNDAY: Aaron Guiel hit a home run for a fourth straight game, helping the Royals win for the sixth time in their last seven games, beating Iowa 9-4. Guiel went 3-for-4 with his club-leading 16th homer, a solo shot in the 3rd inning off Cubs starter Carmen Pignatiello (0-1), to give the Royals a 3-0 lead. Paul Phillips capped a three-run 5th inning with a two-run homer to make it 6-0. Shawn Sonnier (2-0) got the win in relief of Kyle Snyder, who tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in his 3rd rehab assignment start.

ROYALS REPORT: Guiel is the first Omaha batter to homer in four straight games since Calvin Pickering turned the trick August 18-21, 2004. "Pick" was the last Royal to go deep in five straight, June 5-10 of last season. Guiel is 8-for-18 with seven RBI during the past four games, after going 8-for-48 (.167) with one homer and four RBI during his previous 13 contests. *** Snyder has only allowed two earned runs in 9.2 innings, giving him a 1.86 ERA, over his three rehab assignment outings. *** Scott Sullivan's second rehab assignment appearance yesterday did not go as well. He allowed three hits and two runs in one inning of relief. *** Chad Santos was back in the Royals lineup Sunday after missing the prior two games. He had two hits, including a two-run double. Santos is hitting at a .333 clip (10-30) with three home runs and eight RBI over his last eight tilts. *** Adrian Brown also delivered a two-run double yesterday. It came with two outs in the 2nd inning and gave Omaha the early 2-0 lead. *** Phillips has belted home runs in two of the last three games, after hitting just one in his first 57 starts behind the plate. He has hit in 12 of his last 13 games, at a .385 pace (20-52). *** Cory Aldridge had a single in five at-bats Sunday, extending his hitting streak to all five games he has played for Omaha since being promoted from Wichita. He also picked up his second stolen base. *** Pickering, who struck out in all four at-bats Saturday, had the day off yesterday. On the trip, "Pick" is hitting .302 (16-53) with four homers and nine RBI. *** A win tonight guarantees the club will at least match its best CWS trip record since the trek was expanded to 16 games in 2000 (11-5 in 2003).

STARTERS: RH Denny Bautista (0-0, 9.00) vs. RH Jon Leicester (0-2, 5.53) Bautista makes his 2nd rehab assignment start. The 24-year old right-hander went on the DL May 15 with a shoulder injury. His 1st rehab start was last Wednesday at New Orleans (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K). In seven starts with KC this season, Bautista was 2-2 with a 5.80 ERA (35.2 IP, 36 H, 23 ER, 17 BB, 23 K, 2 HR). In 2004, Bautista opened the season with Baltimore's Double-A affiliate, Bowie, before being called up to the Orioles on May 25. He appeared in two relief outings with the Orioles before being sent back to Bowie. Bautista came to KC on June 21, in a trade for Jason Grimsley. He was assigned to Wichita and went 4-3 with a 2.53 ERA in 12 starts for the Wranglers. Bautista was recalled by KC on September 6 and went 0-4 with a 6.51 ERA in 5 big league starts. He was ranked by Baseball America as KC's #2 prospect entering this season. Bautista was originally signed by the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent on April 11, 2000.

PROBABLES FOR REMAINDER OF SERIES:
Tue., 7:05: RH Shawn Camp (2-4, 4.46) vs. LH John Koronka (5-6, 4.98)
