RedHawk catcher called up by Texas

Oklahoma RedHawks catcher Gerald Laird was called up by Texas Monday. To make room for him, Texas optioned infielder Marshall McDougall to Oklahoma.

Laird was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team Monday to replace Albuquerque's Josh Willingham, who was called up by Albuquerque . Because of Laird's call-up he will be unavailable for the Triple-A All-Star Game, to be played July 13 in Sacramento, Calif.

Laird batted .286 with 12 home runs and 72 RBIs in 54 games with the RedHawks. He threw out 16 of 41 attempted baserunners. He went 0-for-4 in Texas' 13-3 loss to Los Angeles (AL) Monday.

McDougall batted .320 with seven home runs and 39 RBIs in 39 games for the RedHawks before being called up June 7. In five games with Texas, he went two-for-five [.400] at the plate.

Catcher Brian Esposito was promoted from Double-A Frisco [ Texas] to the RedHawks and RedHawk outfielder Andres Torres was placed on the DL with a strained abdominal muscle in other moves Monday.
