Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Tucson, AZ - Starting LHP Jon Cannon had a great night on the mound and at the plate as the Sidewinders defeat the 51s 9-8. In just his second start back from his DL stint (shoulder) Cannon pitched 5 scoreless innings with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts and earned his 2nd win of the year. Cannon helped his own cause with his bat as he went 3-for-3 with a run, 2 doubles, a homerun and 3 RBI and left the game with an 8-0 lead. The 51s made it interesting down the stretch out scoring the Sidewinders 8-1 in the final 4 innings but the Sidewinders held on to victory 9-8.

Cannon was not the only one hitting well as 3B Brian Barden and CF Luis Terrero helped lead the offense. Barden went 3-for-5 with a run and a strikeout. Terrero went 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double and a strikeout. With his homerun in the 1st inning 2B Andy Green moved his hit streak to 15 games.
