RedHawks losing streak reaches unlucky 13

The RedHawks hit three home runs Monday, but lost their 13th straight game, 10-7 to Nashville.

Outfielder Chad Allen put the RedHawks on the board first in the first inning with a two-run home run. He finished the night two-for-five with two RBIs.

The RedHawks led after one inning, 3-0. However, Nashville answered with four runs in the second. The RedHawks added runs in the third, fifth, sixth and eighth innings, including solo home runs by Chris Richard and Keith McDonald.

However, the RedHawks were unable to overcome a four-run fifth inning by the Sounds that made the score 9-4, Nashville.

The RedHawks bullpen held Nashville to one run on three hits, no walks and two strikeouts over the final four and two-thirds innings. Justin Thompson pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings.

Adrian Gonzalez went three-for-four with a double and a walk for the RedHawks. Since returning from a knee injury June 25, he is five-for-eight in three games.

The 13-game losing streak is the most in the Pacific Coast League this season. A loss Tuesday would tie the Oklahoma City Triple-A record, set in 1982.

The RedHawks and Sounds meet again at 7:05 p.m. on Two-for-Tuesday at SBC Bricktown Ballpark. Fenway Franks and soft drinks are two-for-one and fans get two-for-one admission if they bring a Coca-Cola can to Tuesday's game.
