(Southaven, MS) -- A three-goal hat-trick from Tulsa forward Rob Hisey highlighted a 6-3 opening night victory for the Oilers over the Mississippi RiverKings on Friday, October 16th in Southaven.

Hisey scored a goal late in the first period and added two more in the second period to give the Oilers their first win for new coach Bruce Ramsay in the regular season opener for both teams.

The RiverKings opened the scoring with two first period goals, one from Cam Severson at the 10:04 mark of the frame, and a power play goal from Kevin Jarman at 12:18 mark of the frame.

But, Hisey's first goal of the night with 23 seconds remaining in the initial period cut the margin in half at the first intermission.

Hisey would add a shorthanded goal and another full-strength tally within two minutes of each other in the second period. The markers would give the Oilers a 3-2 lead at 7:25 of the second period of play.

Former RiverKing Dallas Steward would provide the game-winning goal unassisted at 11:27 for a 4-2 Tulsa lead.

Aaron Davis and Jake Riddle would add red-lighters in the third period for a 6-2 Tulsa lead, before Stephen Margeson finished the scoring with 42 seconds remaining in the game for the final result in favor of Tulsa.

Tulsa won the game despite being outshot 35-33 and failing to score on the power play (0-for-4). The RiverKings scored a power play goal in five chances.

Tyler Sims took the loss in net for the RiverKings with a 27 save performance. Kevin Armstrong was the winning goaltender for the Oilers, stopping 32 of 35 Mississippi shots on net.

Mississippi continues a three-game weekend to open the year with a Saturday night contest in Wichita, starting at 7:05 PM. Sunday, the RiverKings play the Gorillas in Amarillo to wrap up the weekend schedule.

The RiverKings' next home game at "the Ice Palace in Southaven," off the I-55 Church Road exit, will be next Friday, October 23rd, when they host the defending CHL champion Texas Brahmas at 7:05 PM.
