Opening Night in the CHL The CHL's 18th season begins tonight with seven games on the schedule. There are 15 teams competing this season in two conferences (North and South) with 10 of the 15 teams qualifying for the playoffs. The post-season format will be identical to last season. The season will run from October 16th through March 20th.

CHL-TV Debuts Tonight The CHL introduces their newest online venture tonight with the debut of CHL-TV (powered by Insinc). Fans will have the chance to watch all 480 of the CHL's regular season schedule with a $5.95 pay-per-view price. Packages are available as well that give fans the chance to order a month at a time or the entire season. All game archives are offered to catch up on the games you missed for just $3.95. Championship Re-Match The feature match-up of opening night pits the defending CHL Champion Texas Brahmas and the defending Bud Poile Governors' Cup Champion Colorado Eagles. The last time the Brahmas and Eagles met was in Game Five of the Finals, the Cup clinching game for Texas. The Brahmas return 11 players from last year's team including CHL Playoff Most Valuable Player Jason Deitsch who scored 26 points (11-15=26) during the Brahmas Cup run. The two final's competitors will meet in the Budweiser Events Center tonight and on Saturday. (Tonight's game is available on Altitude Sports and Entertainment Television).

Now Introducing the Americans and the Mavericks The two newest teams in the CHL will be unveiled tonight when the Allen Americans travel to Arizona to take on the Sundogs and the Missouri Mavericks travel to Rapid City to face the Rush. Both expansion clubs will begin with lengthy road trips with Allen playing seven straight on the road before opening the Allen Event Center on Saturday, November 7th and Missouri facing nine straight road games before opening the Independence Events Center on Friday, November 13th.

Note: Both Allen's Dwight Mullins and Missouri's Scott Hillman will be making their CHL coaching debuts tonight.

BY THE NUMBERS

4- The current regular season winning streak of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, the longest in the league. The Bees won four straight games to end the 2008-09 regular season and then went on to win the franchise's first playoff series in the Opening Round (two games to one over Corpus Christi). RGV finished 35-24-5 last season, their best regular season in franchise history. Conversely, the Tulsa Oilers have the longest active regular season losing streak dropping four straight to end the 2008-09 season.

398- The number of wins the Odessa Jackalopes have in their franchise history with two games on tap for this weekend (versus Corpus Christi on Friday and at Amarillo on Saturday). The Jacks are 398-307-82 in their 11-year history.

8- The CHL record number of power play goals the Corpus Christi IceRays scored a year ago on their opening night (10/18/2008). The Rays defeated the Tulsa Oilers 12-3 in that game.

301- The number of NHL games that Wichita defenseman Chris McAllister has played in during his career. The 6-7, 238-pound blueliner has scored four NHL goals (with 17 assists) and has 634 career penalty minutes. He has also dressed in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games (with Toronto, Colorado and Philadelphia).

2- The number of Ray Miron President's Cups the Laredo Bucks have won topping the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in both Finals' series. Laredo won both the 2004 and 2006 Cups by beating the Mudbugs. The two teams met tonight in Louisiana in an opening night showdown.
