Bucks Open Season In Bossier Tonight

BOSSIER CITY, LA- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will open up the 2009-10 regular season tonight when they travel to face rival Bossier-Shreveport at the CenturyTel Center. Game time is 7:05pm.

The Bucks play the first of a season-opening three-game road trip tonight in Bossier. Of the 18 players on the Bucks opening day roster, just five have suited up for Laredo prior to tonight (Jeff Bes, Adam Rivet, Igor Agarunov, Mike Looby, Darryl Smith).

Bes returns to the ice tonight for the first time since January 26th of last season, when he suffered a season-ending injury in the same exact building. Bes enters the season 85 points away from 1,000 for his career. Bes will be teamed on the first line with reigning CHL Rookie of the Year Darryl Smith, and Lance Monych.

Tonight is the first game for Rivet as Bucks Team Captain. Rivet, who was named Captain Thursday, takes over for original Buck Serge Dube who retired in the offseason.

J.P Levassuer is expected to start in net for the Bucks tonight after arriving in Laredo Wednesday from Bakersfield, California. Levassuer has 51 games of experience in the AHL and expected to make a big impact for the Bucks.

The Mudbugs enter tonight returning 12 players from last year's squad, including Veteran's Travis Clayton and Joe Blaznek. Clayton is the CHL's all-time games played leader.

Bossier is solid in net once again, as they have brought back record-setting goaltenders Ken Carrol and John DeCaro. Decaro returns to the Mudbugs this season after spending 2008-09 in Las Vegas.

Tonight's game features a battle of the two longest tenured coaches in the CHL, Scott Muscutt (10th season) and Terry Ruskowski (8th season).

The Bucks enter tonight's game with an 0-9 all-time regular season record in Bossier.

The Bucks will travel to play at Rio Grande Valley Saturday night at the Dodge Arena. Game time is 7:35pm.

The Bucks will open their eighth season in the Gateway City on October 24th at the LEC, with the first 1,000 fans entering the arena receiving a FREE Bucks "Believe in Blue" picture frame. The Bucks will host the 2010 CHL All-Star Game January 13th. For ticket information call 718-BUCK (2825).

*Bucks Watch Party Tonight at Coyote Creek*

The Bucks will hold the official road watch party for Friday night's (Oct. 16th) regular season opener at Coyote Creek, located at 4615 San Bernardo. The party starts a 6:30pm, with face off set for 7:05pm in Bossier-Shreveport.

Coyote Creek will offer food and drink specials Friday night, including $1.50 margaritas and Pina Coladas, draft beer specials, and buy one Mexican plate get one free. The Bucks staff will also be on hand giving fans a chance to win prizes, and buy tickets for the home opener on October 24th at the LEC.

*"Bucks Insider" Debuts Saturday on Fox 39*

The Bucks, in conjunction with Fox 39 Laredo, announced that "Bucks Insider" will debut this Saturday (Oct 17th) at 11:30am on Fox 39.

"Bucks insider" is a weekly television show hosted by "The Voice of the Bucks" Bryan Benway, that will feature exclusive inteviews with Bucks coaches, players and fans.

"We are very excited to debut the show this week, I think everyone will enjoy it," Benway said. "The concept was brought to us during the summer and we jumped at the chance to do it."

This week's debut show will feature in-depth interviews with Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski, Two-Time CHL MVP Jeff Bes, and reigning CHL Rookie of the Year Darryl Smith.
