Oilers Recall Chorney; Petry Assigned to OKC

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent team of the Oklahoma City Barons, recalled defenseman Taylor Chorney and assigned defenseman Jeff Petry to the Barons, general manager Bill Scott announced today.

Chorney, a 6-0, 190-pounder from Thunder Bay, Ontario has appeared in 46 games for the Barons this season, registering 16 points (3-13-16). He has played six games with the Oilers this season where he recorded two assits. The Oilers' 2nd round draft choice (36th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft has appeared in 50 National Hockey League games, where he collected five assists. This is his second call up by the Oilers this season.

Petry was recalled by Edmonton December 27. With the Oilers, he appeared in 21 games where he scored three points (1-2-3). Prior to his recall, he appeared in 32 games with the Barons, scoring 21 points (7-14-21). At the time of his recall, he was among the top scoring defensemen in the American Hockey League.

Chorney is joined on the Oilers roster by Barons call ups Linus Omark and Liam Reddox.

The Barons leave Thursday for their two-game road trip against the Abbotsford Heat, the AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames. Friday night, the Barons and Heat will be a part of the Heritage Classic weekend in Calgary when the teams clash at the Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the Flames. Saturday, the teams will then travel to Abbotsford for the second of the two meetings. Friday's game can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY at 8 p.m. (ct), while Saturday's contest can be heard on AM 1000 KTOK at 9 p.m. (ct).
