UPCOMING PROMOTIONS:

-- The Devils have partnered with GE for the first-ever ‚¬Å“GE Kids-In-Free Day ‚¬Â at the Times Union Center on Friday when the Devils host the Sharks. All children 12-and-under will receive a free game ticket when accompanied by an adult with a ticket. Additionally, the first 1,000 fans to arrive will receive a GE-sponsored Albany Devils t-shirt. Children will be the focus of the night during breaks in the action, with a wide array of activities targeted to kids.

-- Time Warner Cable customers can attend the contest on Sunday for $10 or $5 when they show their cable bill at the box office. With a $10 ticket fans can sit in section 101-109 or 116-124. A $5 ticket option is available to sit in the end zone sections 110-115 and 125-130.

-- Sunday ‚¬â„¢s game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports and Dora the Explorer will be in attendance for children to meet. Also, the fifth All-Star Wine & Spirits Team Autograph Session will take place after the game.

THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Monday, Devils 0 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 (Atlantic City)

A three-point night by Ben Street propelled the Penguins to a 4-0 victory against the Devils at Atlantic City ‚¬â„¢s Boardwalk Hall. The contest was a makeup game for the Dec. 12th date, which was postponed due to unfavorable ice conditions. Street had two goals and an assist and joined Brett Sterling with first period goals to give the Penguins a 3-0 lead after one. Keven Veilleux finished the scoring in the third with less than five minutes to play. Dave Caruso was tested 35 times between the pipes; he had 31 saves.

Saturday, Devils 4 at Charlotte 3

Steve Zalewski tied it and Adam Henrique netted the game-winning goal to give the Devils a 4-3 overtime victory against the Checkers at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Henrique caused an offensive-zone turnover and then snapped a wrist shot through the five-hole with 1:48 remaining. Things had looked dim for the Devils, trailing 3-2 with less than four minutes to play, but recently acquired Zalewski tipped in a bouncing puck with 3:48 on the clock. Rob Davison and David McIntyre also had goals for Albany.

Sunday, Devils 2 at Charlotte 3

A late third period goal helped the Checkers sidestep the Devils, 3-2, at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Brett Bellemore ‚¬â„¢s wrister with 3:38 remaining won it, while the Devils received goals from Brad Mills and Steve Zalewski. Dave Caruso made 29 saves on 32 shots and helped the Devils kill off all four Checkers power plays. At the other end, Mike Murphy had 26 saves on 28 tries in the win.

NOTABLES:

-- Albany ‚¬â„¢s 4-3 victory at Charlotte on Saturday was the team ‚¬â„¢s third overtime win of the season. The Devils are one of three clubs (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Toronto) that haven ‚¬â„¢t suffered an overtime loss this season. Brad Mills scored the game-winning goal at Adirondack on Oct. 16, Vladimir Zharkov (currently in NJ) won it at Norfolk on Dec. 17 and Adam Henrique scored the winner at Charlotte on Feb. 12. All three games were 4-3 decisions.

-- The Devils have netted four goals in 13 games this season, going 10-2-0-1 in those contests. Five of those outings have gone to overtime and two were decided in a shootout. The team posted a season-high six goals in a 6-3 win against Springfield on Jan. 15 and in a 6-4 win at Bridgeport on Jan. 25.

-- On Wednesday, the New Jersey Devils completed an AHL trade with the San Jose Sharks, acquiring defenseman Jay Leach and center Steve Zalewski in exchange for right wing Patrick Davis and center Michael Swift. Leach was recalled to the NHL under emergency conditions on Friday and Zalewski made his Devils debut at Charlotte on Saturday.

-- Steve Zalewski has had an immediate impact on the score sheet. In his first game for Albany, he netted the game-tying goal with 3:48 remaining, helping the Devils to a 4-3 overtime win at Charlotte on Saturday. The following day, he again tied the game in the third period. His totals this season include 23 points with six goals and 17 assists.

-- Adam Henrique scored the game-winning goal in overtime at Charlotte on Saturday. The goal was his 14th of the season, increasing his point total to 29. The rookie is the team ‚¬â„¢s active leader with three game-winning goals and five power-play tallies. He leads the team with 12 power-play points.

-- Defenseman Rob Davison is on a two-game scoring streak. He scored his third goal of the season at Charlotte on Saturday and then added an assist on Sunday. For the season, Davison has posted 12 points, including 9 assists, in 46 games.

-- Rookie defenseman Dan Kelly leads the team with a plus-6 rating. Kelly has had a plus rating in 16 games and was a season-high plus-4 at Bridgeport on Jan. 25.

Tuesday, Devils at Charlotte (7:00 p.m.)

The Devils and Checkers will be meeting for the third time in four days on Tuesday. These two teams have met four times this season, splitting the series 2-2. Charlotte is currently third in the East Division with a 30-18-2-4 record (66 pts.). The team is 7-2-0-1 in its last 10 games. Jerome Samson, the Checkers top scorer with 54 points, was recalled to Carolina (NHL) Sunday morning. Jacob Micflikier is the active points leader with 43. He has 21 goals and 22 assists.

Friday, Devils vs. Worcester (7:00 p.m.)

Albany and Worcester recently had a roster shuffle. Jay Leach and Steve Zalewski had each played 50 games for the Sharks this season, while Patrick Davis and Michael Swift had appeared in 40 and 48 contests for the Devils, respectively. Worcester is fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 25-18-2-6 mark (58 pts.) and is 6-3-0-1 in its last 10 games. Jonathan Cheechoo leads the squad with 41 points, including a team-best 27 assists.

Saturday, Devils at Binghamton (7:05 p.m.)

The Senators sit in fifth place in the East Division with a 28-20-3-3 record (62 pts.) and are 6-2-1-1 in their last 10, riding a four-game winning streak. Most recently, Binghamton knocked off Adirondack, 4-3, in overtime on Sunday. Corey Locke not only leads the team, but the AHL with 68 points. He had produced 17 goals and a league-high 51 assists. Erik Condra is second on the team with 46 points, including 17 goals and 29 assists.

Sunday, Devils vs. Adirondack (4 p.m.)

Separated by approximately 50 miles, the Devils and Phantoms are vying for the Time Warner Cable Cup with Adirondack currently holding a 3-2 series advantage. For the season, the Phantoms are eighth in the East Division with a 17-30-3-3 record (40 pts.), including a 5-3-1-1 mark in their last 10. The team has benefited from the goaltending of Michael Leighton, who has a 2.37 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 14 games. Offensively, Adirondack is led by defenseman Erik Gustafsson, who has 32 points with five goals and 27 assists.
