Week 18 Game Results

February 12, 2011 - Adirondack 1 @ Wilkes-Barre 0

Michael Leighton tallied his 31st career AHL shutout while defenseman Erik Gustafsson scored the game-winner late in the first period to carry Adirondack to their second consecutive win over the Penguins. Erik Gustafsson's fifth of the year and first since December 10th against the Syracuse Crunch came rather awkwardly. His drive from the point was

deflected by former Philadelphia Phantom and Flyer Jesse Boulerice and bounced in short-side past Penguins goaltender Brad Thiessen for the lone tally of the evening for either side. Dan Jancevski and Jonathon Kalinski recorded an assist on the goal. Adirondack and Wilkes-Barre finished the game going 0-for-5 on the power play.

February 13, 2011 - Binghamton 4 @ Adirondack 3 (OT)

In a back-and-forth game that saw both teams carry a one-goal lead throughout the game, Binghamton's Andre Benoit would score the game-winner 1:27 into overtime on his sixth of the year.

Adirondack was unable to complete a line change as Binghamton controlled the puck for much of the overtime. That is when

Benoit's wrister from the blue-line snuck through a couple of Senators forwards who screened Michael Leighton's view.

Adirondack got out to an early 1-0 lead on Mike Testwuide's sixth of the year and fourth goal over the last five games. The Senators would answer on their first power play of the night when Ryan Keller fed Derek Smith for his ninth of the season to tie the score at 1-1. Less than four minutes later, Binghamton's David Dziurzynski on a 2-on-1 beat Phantoms goaltender Michael Leighton to give the Senators a 2-1 lead. The Senators would remain in the lead until 1:12 of the third period when Ben Holmstrom sent Michael Ryan down the left boards. Ryan faked a shot and then beat a sliding Robin Lehner to tally his fifteenth of the year to tie the score at 2-2. Adirondack would take back the lead on their first power play goal in their last 18 attempts when Eric Wellwood dropped a pass back to Stefan Legein who beat Robin Lehner glove side to score his fifth of the year. Binghamton's Ryan Keller would tie the score at 3-3 less than 3 minutes later on the Senators second power play goal of the night beating Leighton short side. Each team had opportunities late in regulation to regain the lead but Leighton and Lehner stood tall and earned their respective clubs a point. Adirondack finished the game 1-for-2 on the power play while Binghamton went 2-for-3. The Phantoms outshot the Senators 29-25 but Binghamton got the extra point.
