'Canes Reassign Zac Dalpe to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Zac Dalpe to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Dalpe was recalled to the Hurricanes on Sunday and played in the team's game at Atlanta during his recall to Carolina.

Dalpe, 21, ranks first among Checkers skaters this season with a plus-8 plus/minus rating, and has 36 points (16g, 20a) in the AHL this season, despite playing in just 35 of Charlotte's 54 games. The Paris, Ont., native began the season with Carolina, and has played in 15 games with the Hurricanes, scoring three goals and earning one assist (4 points). Dalpe (6'1", 195 lbs.) is in his first full professional season after two years of collegiate hockey at Ohio State University in 2009-10. The Hurricanes drafted Dalpe in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
